Hidden Hills Elementary School
The After School Enrichment classes are conveniently timed so students can attend immediately after school. Students who are attending an After School Enrichment (ASE) class should go to their ASE class location directly after school.
If your child attends the Growing Room, please send your child directly to the class or have an authorized adult sign the child out and bring them to the class. Some instructors are able to pick–up from the Growing Room by request, please see the individual course descriptions for availability. All instructors will bring children to the Growing Room at the end of class if requested.
Expository Essay Writing
Instructor: Lekha Ink
Students will acquaint themselves with the expository essay, learning how to use facts in their papers and explain their topic concisely and clearly. Students will begin to learn how to research material for their essays.
Instructor: Kidz Love Soccer
Join us for after-school soccer fun! Each class includes age-appropriate activities: skill demonstrations, fun games and instructional scrimmages. We focus on building core soccer skills and good sportsmanship through our fun, noncompetitive teaching style. All kids will
receive a Kidz Love Soccer jersey! Kidz Love Soccer... ‘Where the score is always Fun to Fun!’...Shin guards are required by the second meeting.
Fun with Aerospace Engineering
Instructor: Pon Academics
Have fun building hands-on projects that fly! Students will engage in projects such as building a Rocket or a Helicopter, and will learn the science behind flight, aerodynamics, and propulsion. Students take home completed projects to show off to parents and siblings! This fun class exposes students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), the scientific method, planning, prioritizing, time management, and organization. $35 materials fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.
One on One Hoops
Instructor: One On One Basketball
Join ONE on ONE BASKETBALL for After School Hoops. Experienced instructors will conduct clinics, which will help you become a better player through drills, contests, and non contact game competition. Participants will be grouped according to age.
Essentials of Debating
This class teaches essentials of Debating. The students learn how to make strong arguments and present argumentative topics. This course instills critical thinking in students by providing reasoning and evidence. The participants debate on a variety of their age appropriate topics in various formats.
Pre-Public Speaking: Intro to Writing Speeches
Instructor: Bay Area Debate Club
This course teaches young students the essentials of building confidence in public speaking. The participants learn how to stand tall and speak confidently in front of a large group. They begin to understand the concepts and importance of body language, bringing variation in speed and tone. The students learn the concept of public speaking using fun concepts like show and tell, storytelling, and poem recitals among others.

Fun skill building drills help students learn the basics of tennis, including: rally contests, mini matches, games, rules and scoring. There will be daily matches and an end of the session tournament with prizes!
Instructor: Mad Science
Use your hands as a real Mad Scientist in this whirlwind class on how a lab works! Students will learn to recognize chemical reactions and mix up a few reactive ingredients for some sensational results. We will explore the pH extremes with our Reaction Tubes in what is sure-to-be a popping experience! Create slime using the Mad Science recipe, and then enter the Slime Olympics to test your polymers. You will melt metal in boiling water and freeze water with just a breath of dry ice!
Instructor: Berkeley Chess School
Chess is fun and easy to learn! If you are new to chess or polishing your skills, come develop your understanding and enjoyment of the king of games! Lessons and play combine the skills of thinking with the thrill of sport. Berkeley Chess School has been teaching State Chess Champions since 1982.
Marine Engineering: Making Waves
Instructor: Engineering for Kids
Students will use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine several types of marine based devices and vehicles. Students construct working prototypes that teach and reinforce the concepts of above water transportation, underwater exploration, and harnessing the power of water. They gain exposure to careers in naval, ocean, and marine engineering as well as naval architecture. Materials fee of $50 payable to the instructor on the first day of class.
