The After School Enrichment classes are conveniently timed so students can attend immediately after school. Students who are attending an After School Enrichment (ASE) class should go to their ASE class location directly after school.

If your child attends the Growing Room, please send your child directly to the class or have an authorized adult sign out the child and bring him/her to the class. Some instructors are able to pick–up from the Growing Room by request, please see the individual course descriptions for availability. All instructors will bring children to the Growing Room at the end of class if requested.

Public speaking - Structure your Speech (PS 202)
The aim for this class is to have each participant write a well-structured engaging speech. Kids at this age usually find it challenging to organize their many! ideas. This class focuses in helping participants give a clear structure to their thoughts. Students study how to write speeches on different kinds of topics and for different occasions. They learn to write speeches on descriptive, expository, narrative, process, cause and effect types of topics as well as speeches for social occasions and ceremonies. They practice speaking with confidence.

robotics with nxt lego mindstorm
Take Robotics to the NXT level! Using the popular Mindstorm kit from LEGO, construct and program different models inspired by your favorite space movies! Drive the Mars Rover bot, program Wall-E Bot and let R2Bot get activated by touch! Learn all about the various sensors, how to program multiple motors and play around with gears in this fun beyond the millennium camp! No experience needed. story writing
A rocketship blasting to another planet, a detective sleuthing to crack the case, a sorcerer summoning an entire world. Students of Lekha School of Creative Writing's Storywriting class will learn about the genres these characters come from and how they can write stories of their own. From combining animals to create new characters to mapping out whole new worlds, the Lekha camp emphasizes using the child's creativity to create new stories. $10 materials fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

narrative essay

skyhawks sports academy multiple sport program
The class is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of sports in one setting. Each week participants will learn the rules and essentials of a different sport through skill-based games and scrimmages. These sports include soccer, baseball, basketball, dodge ball, kick ball . Students will learn to recognize chemical reactions and mix up a few reactive ingredients for some sensational results. We will explore the pH extremes with our Reaction Tubes in what is sure-to-be a popping experience! Create slime using the Mad Science recipe, and then enter the Slime Olympics to test your polymers. Probe the properties of light and explore some unusual applications of glow-in-the-dark technology! We will melt metal in boiling water and freeze water with just a breath of dry ice!

introduction to indian music, drumming & dance
Engage your mind, hands, heart, feet and voice in learning the rhythms and melodies of the classical music and dance traditions of India. These arts are taught through an oral tradition using vocal percussion syllables to teach drumming, dance and singing. Learn the poetic and mathematical patterns of Indian Percussion. Sing the melodies of Indian Ragas. Embody an understanding of Indian rhythm cycles through the basic footwork of Kathak Dance. Discover beautiful sounds of traditional insruments like the sitar and sarode. Class is a great kid-friendly introduction to one of the world's greatest classical arts and traditions. Class will lay a strong foundation for future skills and concepts that increase focus, creativity, problem solving and more.

Have fun building hands-on projects that fly! Students will engage in projects such as building a Rocket or a Helicopter, and will learn the science behind flight, aerodynamics, and propulsion. Students take home completed projects to show off to parents and siblings! This fun class exposes students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), the scientific method, planning, prioritization, time management, and organization. Come explore the science behind everything around us! We will learn the science behind optical illusions, magic tricks, and movie effects. We will discover how and why the toys we all know and love work the way they do. We will use science to explain how we can stay connected with friends and family over long distances. Help us use science to solve the mystery of chemistry! With hands on activities we will explore mysterious mixtures and surprising solutions. We will need to put our mystery solving skills to the test as we use science to solve the mystery of Mr. Baker's stolen cookie recipe. After we help solve this tasty mystery, we will learn about the science of our taste buds and get interactive experience with blind taste tests! As we discover the science around us, you will take something home with you after every class to help you continue your investigations at home!
