The After School Enrichment classes are conveniently timed so students can attend immediately after school. Students who are attending an After School Enrichment (ASE) class should go to their ASE class location directly after school.

If your child attends the Growing Room, please send your child directly to the class or have an authorized adult sign out the child and bring him/her to the class. Some instructors are able to pick–up from the Growing Room by request, please see the individual course descriptions for availability. All instructors will bring children to the Growing Room at the end of class if requested.

Mondays

public speaking: speaking with confidence (ps 201)
This class focuses on teaching delivery and presentation skills to the students. Students learn how to manage public speaking anxiety, present themselves with confidence, and connect with their audience through effective body language. It improves their confidence in public speaking and communication skills. They learn different approaches of preparing for a speech example speaking from notes or from memory. The goal of this course is by t the end of the session a student should be able to stand tall and speak confidently and fluently in front of a large group for at least 2 minutes.

robotics 101: roboted - gamebots
Ready, Set, Build!. Race LEGO Karts to learn pulleys, use rack+pinion to play duck hunt and launch your angry bird with a lever! Students will learn Lekha's time-tested methods to overcome writer's block while writing short stories, poems, and short skits. Students will be introduced to a variety of fiction and nonfiction genres. They will progress into genre writing and learn how each genre has its own set of particular rules that drives character creation, setting, and plot.

mad science: phenomenal physics
Gravity… Inertia… Centripetal Force… who could ever imagine that an introduction to physics could be so much fun? We'll experience these awesome forces, learn about the atoms and molecules and build some cool devices! Use a vortex generator to create air pockets with a punch, and levitate ping-pong balls in defiance of gravity. Learn how combinations of shapes like triangles, cylinders, and arches make sturdy homes, bridges, and skyscrapers. And then explore the science of flight. Take home something at the end of each class such as a skyhawk plane, silly putty, and a drag racer.

LEGO ENGINEERING: MINECRAFT BUILD USING LEGO
Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO®! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This project-based camp, designed by Play-Well instructors, combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or LEGO.
