Youth Hoops League (Grades 1-12)

This league has an emphasis on fundamental skill development with every player participating. Standings are not kept in this league because our emphasis is on enjoyment of learning, not winning.

Final team placement will be determined by skills observation, grade and gender. Each player will receive a reversible team jersey and a gift at the end of the season. League requests can only be submitted at the Skills Observations. No request is guaranteed. No refunds will be given for requests not granted. Spaces are limited and leagues may close based on the number of registrations before the registration deadline.

Mandatory Skills Observation

Players will be placed on teams determined by the Skills Observation, grade, and gender. All Youth Hoops participants must attend and participate in one Skills Observation. Skills Observations will take approximately 30 minutes. Please attend one of the two dates below at any time within your league’s time frame. Parents are required to attend the Skills Observation with their player. League requests may only be submitted at the Skills Observation.

2015 Practice & Game Schedule

Practices will be held in the evenings at Gale Ranch, Windemere Ranch, Pine Valley or Iron Horse Gym depending on the grade level. Practice times and dates will be included in the Player Packet which will be distributed in mid-November.

For the 1st & 2nd grade leagues, practices will begin the week of December 1st. Practices will be 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. Once the games begin on January 10, practices will not be held during the week, but instead teams will practice 30 minutes prior to their games on Saturday. No practices will be held December 22-January 2.

For the 3rd-10th grade leagues, practices will begin the week of December 1st and will continue throughout the season during their regularly scheduled practice time. No practices will be held December 22-January 2. Practices will be 1 hour and 15 minutes in length.

Games will be held on Saturdays, January 10 - February 28. Game times and location will be included in the Player Packet. All practice and games times and locations are subject to change.

Player Packets

Player Packets, which include team roster, practice dates/times/location and game schedule, will be emailed on Thursday, November 13th. If you have not received an email by Monday, November 17th please contact Adam Chow at achow@sanramon.ca.gov. All league communication will be conducted by email, so please verify your email addres is correct during registration.

Registration Information

Registration Deadline is Thursday, October 23. Spaces are limited and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Leagues may close based on the number of registrations before the registration deadline. You may register online at www.SanRamonRecGuide.com using the link above.

The last day to request a refund is Friday, October 10. Due to the popularity of the league no refund request is guaranteed and refunds will not be given if a league request is not granted.

Volunteer Coaches

We are looking for volunteer coaches for the league. No prior experience is necessary and training and assistance will be provided. All coaches must pass a background check, submit proof of a negative TB test and attend mandatory trainings. Coaches submitting inquiries by October 10th will select team name and practice time. Youth Hoops League (Kindergarten)

Kindergarten Hoops is back! The league uses volunteer coaches and encourages the involvement of parents. Emphasis is on fundamental skill development with every player participating. There are no practices for this league, simply show up and play basketball. Final team placement will be determined by the skills observation and gender. Space is limited.

Mandatory Skills Observation

All Youth Hoops participants must attend and participate in the skills observation. Please attend on the date below at anytime during the time frame. Skills Observation will take approximately 15-20 minutes.

Practice & Game Schedule

Practices and games are held at Pine Valley Gym on Saturday mornings (9:00am-12:00pm) starting October 25 and ending December 6. There are no games on November 29. Practices and games will be held for 1 1/2 hours each Saturday. All games times are subject to change. Packets, which include team roster and game schedule, will be emailed on Wednesday, October 15.

Flag Football League (Ages 6-14)

Youth FLAG provides the opportunity for kids and families to become involved in football through participation early in life. It also helps develop the first phase of player and coach development by teaching football skills at the earliest age. The league utilizes volunteer coaches and encourages the involvement of parents. The emphasis of the league is on fundamental skill development, every player participating and FUN! Teams will have training camps for the first two weeks; games will start on the third week of the league. All participants will receive a reversible jersey.

Registration deadline is Friday, March 14, 2014.  Spaces are limited and leagues may close based on the number of registrations before the registration deadline. 

Mandatory Skills Observation

All Youth Flag Football participants must attend and participate in one skills observation.  Participants must attend ONE of the two dates below and be present for the entire observation.

All participants must attend the mandatory Skills Clinic.  Players will be evaluated on their skill levels and once the clinic is completed, staff will be able to form teams of equal abilities. League requests can only be submitted at the Skills Observations. No request is guaranteed. No refunds will be given for requests not granted.

This clinic is very important to the league, the participants, and the parents for the following:

1) In order to make the teams as equal as possible we must evaluate all the players' skills.
2) Accurate jersey size for the participants.
3) Player Profiles must be completed

*IMPORTANT*

This clinic will take place inside the Iron Horse Community Gymnasium; participants should have tennis shoes, NOT cleats. Also, parents should accompany their children to ensure that all paperwork is completed.

Practice and Game Schedule

The first two weeks of the league will be training weeks where the teams will only practice for the entire two hours.  Once games begin, practices will be held for the first hour and then the game will begin at the top of the next hour

Practices and games will be held on Fridays, April 11 – May 30 on the Central Park Soccer Fields 3 & 4 (directly behind the Iron Horse Community Gymnasium).
