Bollinger Canyon Road Widening Project

Improvements to Bollinger Canyon Road began this summer and will provide additional roadway capacity to accommodate the General Plan buildout. Below is a summary of the planned improvements:

  • Add one travel lane in each direction from Market Place to the I-680 Freeway
  • Extend dual left turn lanes on eastbound Bollinger Canyon Road to northbound Sunset Drive and to northbound Camino Ramon
  • Addition of a second left turn lane on westbound Bollinger Canyon Road to the Chevron campus
  • Add second left turn lane on westbound Bollinger Canyon Road to Chevron and Bishop Ranch 1
  • Add exclusive right turn lane on westbound Bollinger Canyon Road to northbound Camino Ramon
  • Add second left turn lane on southbound Sunset Drive to eastbound Bollinger Canyon Road

From I-680 Freeway to Sunset Drive (September 12th to September 30th)

  • Electrical and Traffic Signal (day and night work)
  • Irrigation and planting
  • Concrete/curb ramps
  • September 18th - Planned traffic signal power outage at Bollinger Canyon Road and Sunset Drive intersection from       9 a.m. to 11 p.m. - Expect Delays, Use Alternate Route

From Sunset Drive to Camino Ramon (September 12th to September 30th)

  • Electrical and Traffic Signal (day and night work)
  • Irrigation and planting

Camino Ramon to Market Place (September 12th to September 30th)

  • Electrical and Traffic Signal (day and night work)
  • Irrigation and planting
  • Concrete/curb ramps
  • September 19th - Planned traffic signal power outage at Bollinger Canyon Road and Camino Ramon intersection from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. - Expect Delays, Use Alternate Route
  • September 26th - Planned traffic signal power outage at Bollinger Canyon Road and Iron Horse Trail intersection from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. - Expect Delays, Use Alternate Route 
  • September 27th - Planned traffic signal power outage at Bollinger Canyon Road and Market Place intersection from    9 a.m. to 11 p.m. - Expect Delays, Use Alternate Route
September 30th - Roadway micro-surfacing begins as night work on Bollinger Canyon Road from the I-680 Freeway to Alcosta Boulevard.
A minimum of two lanes in each direction on Bollinger Canyon Road are planned to be open at all times during the above daytime activities. Typically, lane closures will occur daily during non-peak hours from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Intermittent night work will occur throughout the Project with typical lane closures from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Occasional weekend work will also take place throughout the Project.
