Harry Michael Sachs was elected to the City Council in 2013. He is from Escondido, California and has been a resident of San Ramon since 1999. He first started community service in 2006 with the Economic Development committee and from 2007 to 2013, served on the city’s Planning Commission. He graduated in 1993 from CSU Sacramento with a B.A. in Government and earned a Master’s in Education in 2013. He represents San Ramon on the TRAFFIX governing board, the Tri-Valley Water Council and the County Iron Horse Trail committee. Harry is also a member of the Valley Children’s Museum Board of Directors.

Harry’s primary focus as a city council member has been to advocate for increasing funding for city-wide infrastructure and capital improvements throughout San Ramon. “Our landscaped streets, city buildings, parks and public places are the tangible legacies that define our community and accentuate our quality of life.” He strongly believes that promoting much needed investments in these critical infrastructure areas ensures San Ramon residents will continue to enjoy premium amenities for many years to come.

Sachs has been a public school teacher since 1996. He has taught in Fremont since 1998 and currently teaches 8th grade US History. He has led student tours of Washington, DC since 2005. His favorite place in DC is George Washington’s home at Mount Vernon. His favorite activities include reading biographies of American leaders, traveling to anyplace with a beach, cooking his grandmother’s Italian recipes, and volunteering for community causes.

Harry and his wife Diana have been married since 1998. They have 3 children who attend San Ramon schools. “I am honored to serve our wonderful community and be part of a city council that promotes and protects our community values and quality of life.”
