Next Gen Science (Ages 6-8)
Begin your engineering practice with a fair number of standards in the three disciplinary areas of life, physical, and Earth and space science. Dig-in to Earth science! Take flight into the world of aeronautics as you discover how the 4 forces of flight help things soar into the sky. Learn about the six different types of simple machines: the screw, lever, inclined plane, wedge, pulley, and wheel and axle. discover the science and technology behind locks, surveillance systems and burglar alarms! Explore how triangles, arches and bridges shape our structures and apply some engineering to your very own bridge. Explore the amazing properties of water – density, solvency and surface tension. Using scientific labware and everyday items we introduce the concepts of suction, hydrogen bonding, and static cling. Learn about the vast range of life found in the sea—from plankton to sponges to whales! 

Topics covered include Current Events, Earthworks, Invention-ation, Supre Sturctures, Fantastic
Fliers, Life in the Sea, Mix It Up, Wacky Water. The topics will not necessarily follow this
order. However, each of these topics will be included at some point in the program.


Next Gen Science (Ages 8-11)
Begin your engineering practice with a fair number of standards in the three disciplinary areas of life, physical, and Earth and space science. Build series and parallel circuits while learning how moving electrons make electricity flow. Dig-in to Earth science! Earth’s layers are introduced with a spotlight on its outer rocky layer. Who gave us Morse code?  How about earmuffs or the light bulb?  You will be guided from observation through presentation on your journey to becoming a great inventor. Explore how triangles, arches and bridges shape our structures and apply some engineering to your very own bridge. Take flight into the world of aeronautics as you discover how the 4 forces of flight help things soar into the sky. Learn about the vast range of life found in the sea—from plankton to sponges to whales! learn about the parts of mixtures and filter soap from a salty solution. Use a carbon filter to clean up colored water and follow a color-changing experiment to see how useful a suspension can be. Explore the amazing properties of water – density, solvency and surface tension and much more.

Oct. 18: Flying Machines - HELICOPTER! - Take to the sky in our Bricks 4 Kidz helicopter model and learn about propulsion, lift and g-forces!
Oct. 25: Dinosaurs - JURASSIC BRICK LAND! - Learn about and build amazing dinosaurs that lived during the Jurassic period!

Pokemania Explorations using LEGO® 
Come join Snapology for Pokémania. Students will build and explore the world of Pokémon. A progression from Pokeballs to characters to making their own cards.  They’ll create their own Pokémon characters, gyms, battles and their own generations of Pokémon.  Your student will be a Pokémon trainer during these classes.  The emphasis is problem solving by the task given to create and build.  

Have a love for Pokemon and  LEGO®?  Let's be a Pokemon trainer:
Week 1 - Using LEGO® bricks, we'll create Pokeballs.  One's we know and create your own.  We'll create them using a mosaic build to add some art into it.  
Week 2 - Using LEGO® bricks, we'll build Pokemon characters then evolve them.  Can you do the Pokedex challenge?  How fast can you create Pokemon characters?
Week 3 - Pokemon train in gyms to power-up and live.  How will yours live and train?  What is your Pokemon world?
Week 4 - Whether you know or don't know Pokemon cards, we'll design and create our own Pokemon cards.   LEGO® bricks will help us model designs as we make our cards.


Adventures as Ninjas using LEGO®
Let’s join forces in this class together to find the Ninja within each of us using LEGO®. We’ll build to battle with your friends in Ninjago for the greater good!  How will we find inner peace?  By unleashing the power of building from within each of us.   We’ll create battle stadiums for spinner battle; build a dojo; and use different methods of testing our Ninja skills. The emphasis is problem solving by the task given to create and build.  

Enter the world of Ninjago as we build a ninja LEGO® brick world:
Week 1 - Build your LEGO®  stadium to do spinner battle.  Who lasts the longest?
Week 2 - Ninja's are agile.  Let's make LEGO®  targets and check your aim - ready? Fire!!  
Week 3 - Ninjago is a whole world in itself.  What is your ninja world as they train, meditate, battle and live.  How will we protect the 4 weapons?  Let's bring our prior weeks together.  
Week 4 - Ninja's are agile.  Can your ninja banish the enemies into the Underworld then get out?  We'll build your Underworld then catapult your ninja out of there!



Scientific Cooking for Kidscookingclasses
Do you want your kids to get addicted to STEM? With them understanding the concepts in a hands-on manner. We will have them discover the principles of chemistry and physics and biology in a hands-on manner. All this while baking sweet treats or making ice cream, oh did we forget to mention chocolate concoctions? But wait its not just about desserts, they’ll learn to appreciate and love nutritious foods like salads and veggies too while learning the science behind cooking. $20 Materials Fee.

Adventures in Writing writingclasses
You are the creator of your world. Wherever your imagination takes you: whether it be a space adventure, a mystery to be solved, or a trip back in time. Students will be guided to infuse their writing with vivid imagery, descriptive prose and powerful, exciting endings. The elements of story writing will be discussed and utilized. This class is an ongoing class throughout the year. Poetry and essay writing will follow story writing.

Students are encouraged to attend the first four weeks to plan out their stories. They will be deciding who their characters are, where they live and when (past, present, future) and coming up with an idea for their story. In week five the students will be combining the elements to write an original story and weeks six, seven and eight will largely be spent writing their stories utilizing what they have learned about story writing.

Week 2: Weekly writing prompt for warm up. The importance of setting~the where and when of your story. Plot mountain. What will your story be about?

Week 4: Weekly writing prompt for warm up. Introducing dialogue into your story. How does your character solve the story's problem? 
Week 5: Weekly writing prompt for warm up. Combining the elements, character and setting, plot and dialogue.
