CITY OF SAN RAMON COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING
January 13, 2014
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of San Ramon was held on January 13, 2014 at 5:31 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at City Hall, 2222 Camino Ramon, Mayor Clarkson presiding.
PRESENT: Councilmembers Hudson, O’Loane, Perkins, Sachs, and Mayor Clarkson.
STAFF PRESENT: Interim City Clerk Renee Beck.

Councilmember Sachs led those present in the pledge of allegiance.

INTERVIEW APPLICANTS FOR THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Interim City Clerk announced the openings of the Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC). Applications were received from Gary Alpert, Don Birnbaum, Debbie Choy, Geoff Johnson, Sharyn Rossi, Travis Sexton, Michael Smart, Walt Trembley, and Darryl Young by the December 6, 2013 deadline. Travis Sexton subsequently withdrew his application. The City Council interviewed the candidates on January 13, 2014. Debbie Choy and Michael Smart were eligible for at-large positions and as well as the business owner position. The San Ramon Chamber of Commerce requested that Joe Nelson be re-appointed as the Chamber’s representative to Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC).
CITY COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS – ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
After the interviews, the Interim City Clerk distributed the ballots. The Council voted and the Interim City Clerk tabulated the ballots. Mayor Clarkson announced that Gary Alpert, Don Birnbaum, and Walt Trembley were selected as at-large representatives. Mayor Clarkson announced that Michael Smart was selected as the Business Owner representative and Joe Nelson was re-appointed as the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce Representative. Cm. Perkins’ motion to appoint Gary Alpert, Don Birnbaum, and Walt Trembley to EDAC at-large positions for terms expiring in January 2016 was seconded by Cm. Hudson and passed 5-0-0-0. Cm. Perkins made a motion to appoint Michael Smart as the business owner representative. Vice Mayor Hudson seconded and amended the motion to add a request for the Policy Committee to review adding alternates to EDAC and advise the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce that they may be requested to provide an alternate representative. The motion passed 5-0-0-0. Cm. Perkins motion to reappoint Joe Nelson as the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce Representative was seconded by Cm. O’Loane and passed 5-0-0-0. At 7:22 p.m., there being no further business, Mayor Clarkson adjourned the meeting.
