San Ramon - You're in the Movies!San Ramon has produced a series of ‘community vignettes’ to inform current and prospective residents and businesses about the City and showcase why it has earned a national reputation as a great community.  Last year, San Ramon earned several top rankings by national organizations which analyzed cities across California for the factors people deem most important in choosing a city to live, raise a family, work, and play.

Although the ‘community vignettes’ are short, they provide an overview of the key elements people use in determining where to live or work - including employment and economic opportunities, safety, social life, recreation, and natural beauty. The vignettes reflect the City Council’s goal to showcase the City of San Ramon, a community that WalletHub, a national personal finance organization, ranked last year as the best place to find a rewarding job and the second-best location to raise a family in California.  And the national online security and home safety resource organization SafeWise ranked San Ramon as the third-safest among cities across the state.

San Ramon’s initial seven community vignettes include a welcome address by Mayor Bill Clarkson and an overview of economic development, current and planned infrastructure projects and goals, open space, parks and recreation, the police department, and community organizations.

“These community vignettes are part of the City Council’s goal to continually inform residents and businesses about every aspect and major project of San Ramon as well as socio-economic and environmental goals for our city,” said Mayor Bill Clarkson.  “We also believe that the vignettes will complement our ongoing effort to highlight why San Ramon is one of the best communities in the U.S. to launch and grow a business.”

The vignettes highlight why San Ramon has become a magnet for families and businesses.  For example, Police Chief Stevens noted that San Ramon is one of the safest cities in California because of an ongoing, historically-high level of cooperation and trust among the police, schools, neighborhood, and community organizations.   Mayor Clarkson and Parks Commissioner Shelly Lewis tout San Ramon’s extensive parks system – more parks per capita than any other San Francisco Bay Area city – and its ridgeland parks that provide a dramatic, beautiful backdrop for the city and a haven for wildlife.

“We hope that the community vignettes will help to showcase why San Ramon - with its highly-regarded schools, economic opportunity, natural beauty, overall safety, and access to good medical care – is one of the gems of the Golden State,” said Mayor Clarkson.
