Alcosta Senior & Community Center Renovation

The renovation of the Alcosta Senior and Community Center, which began on September 30, 2019, was completed by the beginning of December, with the Grand Reopening on December 6, 2019. The renovation included new paint, new flooring, new cabinets in the kitchen, bathroom updates, lighting updates, fireplace and mantle restoration, and the renovation of the ceiling in the Vista Grande Room.

The renovations required the facility to be closed for the duration of the construction schedule and all programming was relocated to the Dougherty Station Community Center. Most of the major renovations occurred in the north side of the building, which remained closed through December 6th.  The south side, the most recent expansion of the facility, reopened on October 29th with a fresh coat of paint and wallpaper removal.

During the renovation, the manufacturer of the carpet had an issue with their manufacturing systems worldwide resulting in the inability to manufacture their products. In order to fulfill the immediate need of the project, the manufacturer agreed to provide and pay for the installation and removal of a temporary product. The City will continue to work with the manufacturer and contractors  to schedule the replacement carpet with Parks and Community Services to avoid program interruption.

Up next is the renovation of the San Ramon Community Center, which began on December 16, 2019. The Community Center will remain closed during construction with scheduled completion by April 2020. The Parks and Community Services Department has relocated all programming to the Dougherty Station and Amador Rancho Community Centers.
