Resident's Generous Act of Kindness - Baseball Field Backstop

Longtime San Ramon resident, Rodney Rumble, recently approached staff and offered to donate his time and the materials to refurbish the aging wooden backstop behind the Twin Creeks Elementary School baseball field used by the school children and Canyon Creek Little League. This offer was much more than a typical “San Ramon Act of Kindness”. This offer was also precipitated by Mr. Rumble’s love and devotion to his father, who recently passed away.

Mr. Rumble has fond memories of his father’s giving ways as he recalled his Dad building the original wooden backstop at their home in the City and assembling it on site. He recalled the story of his Dad hand painting each board in their garage before installing them with the help of other neighbors.

The backstop was rebuilt on the weekend of August 4th and 5th by Mr. Rumble and two of his close friends, Jeff Cushing and Scott Houston. Both Mr. Cushing and Mr. Houston, like Mr. Rumble, are Twin Creeks alumni as well as former Canyon Creek Little Leaguers. All three jumped at the chance to donate their time because of the great memories they had of their little league days, being a Twin Creeks Tiger, and to honor Rodney’s Dad. The boards have been installed and have received a primer coat in preparation for the San Ramon Valley School District to apply the final coat of green paint.

One further note in regards to our tightly knitted family of City residents. Ms. Shelli Kravitz, the school Principal at Twin Creeks, was overjoyed with Rodney’s heartfelt gift but, not at all surprised. Ms. Kravitz has known Rodney his entire life and was Rodney’s babysitter years ago and has always known of his giving character and what a special man he has become.
