Each one of these pieces is exploring my Native American heritage by research and study. They express fine brushwork to a dry brush technique, but also include stippling. By using vivid colors into the artworks I bring forth the images of my Chickasaw Heritage.

In my artwork I take the traditional subject matter of still life and portraitures and create a more contemporary image through composition and use of materials. Patterned textiles play an important role within my work. I focus on its interaction with the subject matter to a point where the object or figure is being consumed by the patterns. Many objects and textiles depicted in traditional western still life paintings serve as an indicator of wealth and status but are stripped of such meaning in my own paintings and drawings.
