Adventure Club has all new weekly adventures. Each adventure will thrill campers with exciting games, creative crafts and wacky activities. This summer, get your kids outside playing to improve their social, emotional and physical growth. There's no better way than at Adventure Club. Explore all the different experiences that Adventure Club has to offer this summer! All activities are held outdoors and led by trained, experienced staff in Central Park. Campers may be split into age groups for activities. Activities may change depending on weather and scheduling availability.

3D Printing Camp

The course will teach you the basics of 3D modeling and printing, converting images to 3D models, and critical basic concepts in computer aided design (CAD), including extrusion, scaling, mesh, water tight, and even interlocking parts.    The course will uncover the core processes behind 3D printing and reveal one of the most powerful capabilities of the 3D printing revolution-that it's accessible to anyone.

Academic Writing Camps
Instructor: Lekha Publishers
Students will learn to refine and develop their academic writing skills.  Younger children will learn the art of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar through interactive lessons. Composition will be introduced throu gh paragraph structure. Older students will learn to write the narrative essay, which focuses on developing a student's ability to write in the first person and to follow a linear narrative structure. Students will write three to five paragraph essays.  They will also learn how to plan and outline their essays properly before writing, as well as how to revise their essays.

Early Reading
Reading is the process of decoding symbols in order to help comprehend a written language. The reading process requires continuous practice, development, and refinement. At Lekha Early Readers children will learn how to read using interactive phonics methods. A $10 materials fee will be included at registration.

The Fundamental Essay
Students will learn the art of writing essays. Younger students will write three paragraph essays while older students will write five paragraph essays which are the preferred method in schools. They will learn to use topic sentences, hooks, thesis statements, and transitional words in order to make their essays flow. Berkeley Chess Camps
Instructor: Berkeley Chess School Staff
The camp includes chess instruction for all levels. Emphasis is on the joy of the game but with a serious eye to the student's progress. The program includes daily instruction and play plus tournaments and prizes.  New material will be presented during each week of camp. Bricks for Kidz Camp with  LEGO® Bricks
Instructor: Bricks 4 Kidz Staff
Designed and created by teachers, architects, and engineering professionals, our hands-on curriculum introduces children, ages 3-13+ to concepts of engineering, architecture and mechanics using LEGO® Bricks. Educational content is designed to increase a student's general knowledge and introduce S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) concepts that relate to that day's model.

Super Heroes Academy building with LEGO ® Bricks
Join Bricks 4 Kidz for a week building Super Heroes with LEGO® Bricks. Explore all the caped crusaders and discover their super powers. Grab your katanas and nun chucks as we prepare to fight crime with the Teenage Brick Turtles! Practice engineering as you build two of the courageous turtles and their wise Japanese rat sensei, Master Splinter. Strengthen your ninjutsu skills to defeat the villainous Shredder and his evil Foot Clan. After a treacherous day of crime-fighting, don't forget to give the turtles a break to enjoy a pizza down in their sewer dwelling under the city. Budding Biologists/Science Beginnings

This camp showcases a wide spectrum of animals and is designed for children who are fascinated with animal biology. We'll study the life cycle and habitat, as well as functions and parts of meal worms, super worms, earthworms, insects(crickets), beetles(lady bugs), hermit crabs, mollusks(land and sea snails, slugs); explore marine biology with blue crabs, mussels, fish and squid dissection, and many more. Are you looking four your child to be a 'code-ey'?  We at SV4Ukids introduce technology concepts and strive to build love for the programming language. We believe technology education expands creativity and emphasizes logical reasoning. We have created a young code-ey pathway to graduate to next level, we start from scratch for seven years and up and graduate them to python or raspberry pi depending on their level. This fun class exposes students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), the scientific method, planning, prioritization, time management, and organization. Students will gain a better understanding for how the way things around them work, and will learn how to break down and analyze problems.  Have fun building hands-on projects and performing science experiments! Students will engage in projects such as building a Solar-Powered Car or an Electronic Gameboard. They will run lab experiments such as The Density Lab or The Eruption Lab. Students take home completed projects to show off to parents and siblings!

Kids CAN Cook!
Instructor: Josephine Evonc
Students will learn how to create some deliciously wonderful finger foods and as-easy-as-pie dishes that they will enjoy not only making, but EATING! They will also learn to understand how to measure, using gallons, cups, half cups, teaspoons, tablespoons, and other tools used in the kitchen. An introduction to learning how to read a recipe book will also be presented. Students will need to provide an apron in order to catch spills that may happen during food preparation. Put on your apron, roll up your sleeves, pick up your spoon and fork, and get ready for a GREAT summer of excitement in the kitchen because Kids CAN Cook!

Little Medical School

Little Medical School brings medicine, science, and the importance of health to children in an entertaining, exciting, and fun way.  Our camp encourages children to explore the exciting and inspiring world of medicine.  Using interactive demonstrations and games, kids learn how the body and organs work, how to use instruments that real doctors use, administer first-aid, and even tie knots like a real surgeon.  Each child gets their own stethoscope that really works.

Mad Science
Instructor: Mad Science of Mt. Diablo
Create a spark of imagination and curiosity through fun, hands-on science programs! Students will learn how to explore, question, and test their theories. Through unique experiments and dazzling demonstrations, we hope to inspire young people to explore the world around them. All camps include a daily take home project.

Secret Agent Camp
The Mad Science Secret Agent Camp is a fun journey into the world of detection, spy science, and forensics.  Campers will examine the science behind the spy tools made famous by the world's greatest spies! We will reconstruct activities using scientific methods and use the science of cryptology to send and decode secret messages. Kids will get a chance to see what can't be seen by the naked eye and will follow in Sherlock's steps to learn what tracks can tell us! Join the Mad Science Bureau of Investigations to help foil a burglary using state-of-the art security techniques!

Eureka! The Inventors' Academy
Inventing means curiosity, practicality, necessity, cooperating and dreaming! Join us as we take students on a historical journey with a hands-on approach learning about some of the world’s greatest inventors from Leonardo da Vinci to Orville to Thomas Edison to the Wright Brothers. We challenge our class to use their imaginations and creativity to survive on a deserted island by designing devices to capture food and water, by building bridges, shelters and even a boat to make it off the island. We will put our heads together to imagine the future in space focusing on creating inventions to protect space ships from damaging space rays and designing a safety capsules for payloads returning from space. These are only a few examples.  Come discover and create!

History of Time
A long, long time ago, in a galaxy called the Milky Way a planet called Earth was born near a star called the Sun. Have you ever wished you could travel through time and space? Well, in 'History of Time' that is exactly what we will do! The story of the universe is an epic science saga of amazement. On our very first day of camp we will strap on our imagination caps and build a Super Science Time Machine to explore the known universe. Time travelers will journey into the past to traverse our Milky Way, and examine the chemicals that make up the Universe as well as the human body. From Brain Goo to Mad Mucus, we’ll explore biology by traveling through the different parts of our bodies here in the present day. We will even travel into the future to learn about genetics while making our own baby dragons! Each camp day includes a project that campers will take home to remind them of their travels through time.

NASA: Journey into Outer Space
Mad Science and NASA’s after school program is now a summer camp! From our atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system, this hands-on program sends campers on a quest for exploration! Comets, planets, stars and more are all waiting to be discovered. Learn about the four forces of flight and the challenges of space travel. Camp includes a take home every day. How Things Work
How do plants grow, live, and 'eat'? How do we travel into outer space? What powers humans and our homes? All of our greatest scientific advancements started with a question. In 'How Things Work' young scientists set out to find answers! Students will learn how animals track scents and follow a trail of amazing aromas. We’ll delve into natural dyes found in plants and even make our own paper! Each day campers will create and take home a project to remind them of what they learned during each awesome day of camp.

Crazy Chemistry!
We’ll explore and create exciting chemical reactions, make colorful concoctions and bubbling brews. Amaze yourself with magical temperature changing baggie science or growing ghost crystals. Study the chemistry involved in not-so-simple things like chalk and soap, and even experiment with the chemistry used by artists, spies and detectives! Chemists bring home a project each day.

Public Speaking & Presentation Camps
Instructor: Gurus Education Staff
These camps focus on delivery and presentation skills of the students. Students learn how to manage public speaking anxiety, present themselves with confidence, and connect to their audience with effective and clear speech. It will improve their confidence in public speaking and communication skills.

Pre Public Speaking - Building Public Speaking Confidence
This program teaches young students the essentials of building confidence in public speaking. The participants learn how to stand tall and speak confidently in front of a large group. It gives them a head start for the advanced courses in Public Speaking and Debates. The students play many public speaking games, do story presentations, making it a fun, learning environment.

Children at this age usually find it challenging to organize their many ideas. This class focuses in helping participants give a clear structure to their thoughts, creating an effective speech. Students study different styles of speech writing - Descriptive, Expository, and Narrative. They practice speaking with confidence. This course is suitable for both students who have taken the previous course and those who are taking public speaking for the first time.

Essentials of Debating
This course teaches the basic and advanced concepts in debating. The students learn how to make strong arguments by providing reasoning and evidence. This course not only improves the students' public speaking skills but it also expands their overall general knowledge on various topics. The participants practice making flows, note-taking and become better prepared and more confident. They debate on a variety of age appropriate topics.

Come onto the Robotics Battlefield! This year students will be divided into teams and tasked with completing a robot to battle against other teams on the final day! Learn how to build and program with multiple motors and sensors. Computers and kits are provided. No experience needed. This camp is great for beginners as well as experienced robotocists!

Go onto the Battlefield with Robotics 101! Build a NINJA STAR to learn GEAR RATIOS. Construct a BATTERING RAM and a CATAPULT! Fly the BOMBER PLANE to see a TILT SENSOR and FENCE with a MINIFIG to watch how a CRANK works! All this and more in our fantastic camp -  a great blend of creativity, technology and science! Students work in pairs - each team is provided with a kit and computer. Skill cards show the robots built and concepts covered. Give your children the opportunity to learn how things work!
