Chief Joe Gorton

“Many people are good at talking about what they are doing, but in fact do little. Others do a lot but don't talk about it; they are the ones who make a community live.”
Jean Vanier

Welcome to the San Ramon Police Department’s website.  The website is designed to be a user friendly interface and offer a one-stop shop for SRPD news, media releases, crime bulletins, crime statistics, special events and much more.  The website also contains a portal to file online police reports and sign up for various crime prevention resources to help keep you informed and feeling safe in our community.

The San Ramon Police Department draws some of the finest law enforcement professionals in the state.  Our average officer tenure in the department is over ten years of experience investigating all major crimes and complex traffic accidents.  California’s Commission on Police Officers Standards and Training (POST) has identified the San Ramon Police Department as model agency.
Our deparment values independent decision making and problem solving strategies.  Using a community-oriented policing philosophy, our department has fostered strong partnerships between our schools, faith-based community, civic organizations and citizens.  This type of collaboration greatly enhances our crime fighting tactics and tends to reduce crime and the fear of crime in our community.
I am proud to lead an agency full of officers committed to serving their community and improving the quality of life of all those who live, work and play in the city of San Ramon. Our department strives to stay on the cutting-edge of the law enforcement profession.
