The Explorer Scout Program is designed for youth ages 16 to 21 who have an interest in law enforcement as a career. This is a co-educational program and all members must join the Boy Scouts of America. The goals of Exploring are to educate and involve youth in police operations, to interest them in possible law enforcement careers and to build mutual understanding between young people and law enforcement officer. Through involvement with the San Ramon Police Department, members are given an awareness of the challenges and complexities facing police services. Our Explorers not only get to see how a police department works from the inside, but they also directly support us by assisting with numerous events throughout the year. Several of our Explorers have gone on to successful careers in law enforcement. Those who have chosen different careers have gained not only invaluable experience but also an appreciation for the challenges that are faced by modern law enforcement agencies.
