No more messy fingerprint ink. The City of San Ramon provides computerized Live Scan fingerprinting services for anyone who needs to be fingerprinted. (We can also do standard 10-print ink cards for those who require them.) The Live Scan system digitally captures your fingerprints, and through a high speed computer line, sends the prints electronically to the California Department of Justice in Sacramento. Before Live Scan systems were available, employers who required fingerprint checks would have to wait three to four months for a clearance letter to arrive via U.S. Mail. In most cases, that employee would begin work pending a response from the state. With the Live Scan system, clearance letters are being sent directly to the employer via email, in about a week.
Live Scan (and ink card) services are available by appointment ONLY. For more information on fingerprint services and fees, contact the San Ramon Police Department at (925) 973-2700.
