The Crime Prevention Specialist has been a tremendous representative for the department, and has transformed the Crime Prevention Division over the past few years to include many new programs for the community and business sector; in addition to keeping up the high standards of educating the community via newsletter, presentations and neighborhood watch groups.

The Crime Prevention Specialist has a direct connection with the public, answers questions and provides knowledge, information, and a variety of crime prevention tips through presentations to groups of all ages, including preschools, neighborhoods, seniors, business groups and more!

The Crime Prevention Division also puts out a quarterly Crime Prevention Newsletter that is distributed to all Neighborhood Watch Groups as well as other community groups. It is available online and at the police station.

In 2008, the Police Department made crime statistics for the City of San Ramon available to everyone on the web. Crime Mapping is a wonderful tool that allows citizens to run statistics for their neighborhood as well as get alerts to when a crime occurs in their neighborhood. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is FREE.

Crime Free Multi-Housing is a program developed for property managers in an effort to reduce crime, enhance rental properties and increase property values throughout the city. It is a FREE, certified, three phase program offered to all rental communities in the city and has reduced calls for service citywide by over 40%!

Crime Free Business is a community-based program that is designed to reduce crime in and around retail and service businesses and provide a safe work environment for employees, customers and employers, all while increasing your bottom line. The certification is FREE to all businesses located in the City of San Ramon.
