Universal Waste

It is illegal to dispose of universal waste with regular trash.  Universal waste includes Household Batteries, Fluorescent Bulbs, Mercury Thermometers and many Electronic Devices (including but not necessarily limited to: Computers, Printers, Microwave Ovens, VCR's, Radios, Cordless Telephones, Cellular Telephones and Answering Machines). 

E-Waste Recycling & Disposal Facilities

Remember, it is illegal to dispose of cathode ray tubes ("CRTs" include televisions and monitors) with your household garbage and recyclables.  Following is a select list of local recycling opportunities to properly dispose of your electronic waste:

On-Call Curbside Collection: 

eWasteDirect, Inc. 925-437-9558 offers FREE E-waste pick-up with a five item miniumum.

San Ramon residents can also call Valley Waste Management at (925) 837-3356 to have computer monitors and televisions collected at the curb for a fee,

Curbside customers can set out electronics for free collection during the three Special Clean-Up Days they receive each year.
