Universal Waste

It is illegal to dispose of universal waste with regular trash.  Universal waste includes Household Batteries, Fluorescent Bulbs, Mercury Thermometers and many Electronic Devices (including but not necessarily limited to: Computers, Printers, Microwave Ovens, VCR's, Radios, Cordless Telephones, Cellular Telephones and Answering Machines). 

E-Waste Recycling & Disposal Facilities

Remember, it is illegal to dispose of cathode ray tubes ("CRTs" include televisions and monitors) with your household garbage and recyclables.  Following is a select list of local recycling opportunities to properly dispose of your electronic waste:

On-Call Curbside Collection:  computer monitors and televisions can be collected at your curb for a fee, by appointment. San Ramon residents can call Valley Waste Management at (925) 837-3356. Curbside customers can also set out electronics for free collection during the three Special Clean-Up Days they receive each year.

Recycling Drop-off Events: These events are hosted four times per year by the City of San Ramon at various locations throughout the City. The City partners with Universal Waste Management, Inc. to recycle electronics an universal wastes at these events.
