1.       CALL TO ORDER

Committee Members Attending:        Sandy Austin (Chair), Sheri Glaser (Vice Chair), Marci McGuire, Ann Uawithya, and Marlisa Zamora

The meeting was called to order by Sandy Austin (Chair) at 11:36 a.m.


M/S/C/U (McGuire/Glaser) to approve the March 19, 2012 meeting minutes as written (4-0). Marci McGuire stated to note in the minutes that Linda Young will not be able to attend the May 21, 2012 even though she stated she would in March.




4.1       Transportation Commuter Fairs/Events

Darlene Amaral, Transportation Analyst, stated that she finished two big commuter fairs at PG&E and Whole Foods. She stated that they both went well, but there was that usual trouble of getting people to stop at the booth. Mrs. Amaral stated that she is still planning a commuter fair for the DVC – San Ramon campus, and one at the San Ramon City Hall. Ann Uawithya stated that Mrs. Amaral could host the commuter fair in the Summer. Mrs. Amaral stated that she is targeting a Fall commuter event for the event at City Hall.

In summary the following items were discussed:

  • Mrs. Amaral stated that she is attending the Spare the Air employer breakfast on May 22, 2012 with Marci McGuire.
  •  Mrs. Amaral stated that AT&T won the Tri-Valley Spare the Air Resource Team Extreme Commute Makeover competition to increase carpooling in and out of AT&T.
  • In July, Mrs. Amaral is a part of the Association of Commuter Transportation (ACT) will be holding a Vanpool Formation Workshop, which will be held at the San Ramon Community Center, and is open to anyone who has vanpool questions.
  •  Mrs. Amaral stated that she would work with Sheri Glaser about what type of commuter event to hold for the school district.
  •  Ms. Uawithya stated that she could take brochures over to the Dougherty Station Library since so many students stop by there.

Action item:  No action needs to be taken.

4.2       TDM Advisory Committee By Laws

Mrs. Amaral provided the committee members with the City Council approved TDM By Laws. She stated that she took the by laws with the proposed changes:

  • Meet every other month instead of quarterly; and
  • Change meetings from Tuesdays to Monday.

Mrs. Amaral stated that she is still working on getting two Alternates for the committee, Ms. McGuire asked if the TDM Advisory Committee will be getting an Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) Liaison. Mrs. Amaral stated that it is not in the by laws currently, but she wants to get the Alternates for the TDM Advisory Committee first.

4.3       Bike to Work Day 2012

Mrs. Amaral stated that Bike to Work Day 2012 was held on May 10, 2012, and there were three energizer stations in San Ramon. Mrs. Amaral stated that the total count of bicyclists that came by (not necessarily stopped) the 43 energizer stations throughout Contra Costa County was 4,469 for both morning energizer stations and the afternoon. Last year the number of bicyclists throughout Contra Costa County was 4,008. Mrs. Amaral stated that she was at the Iron Horse Trail (IHT) at Crown Canyon Road energizer station and was there from 6:00a.m. until 9:00a.m. Ms. Zamora was at the energizer station near Whole Foods, and Ms. McGuire was at the energizer station at the IHT on Bollinger Canyon Road. Ms. McGuire stated that her station was busy, and stated that bicyclists were still stopping by 12:00p.m. even though the station closed at 10:30a.m. Mrs. Amaral stated that next year’s Bike to Work Day may be a little different due to funding.

5.        NEW BUSINESS

5.1       Introduce New Committee Member

Mrs. Amaral introduced the newest TDM Advisory Committee member Marlisa Valdez-Zamora, Marketing and Community Outreach Coordinator from Whole Foods San Ramon.

Action item: No action needs to be taken.

5.2       Spare the Air 2012

Mrs. Amaral stated that Spare the Air 2012 started on May 2, 2012 and will run until October 2012. Mrs. Amaral stated that if you visit the sparetheair.org, and sign up for alerts on your phone or e-mail letting you know when a Spare the Air Day is in effect. Mrs. Amaral stated that there is a Spare the Air Employer program that gives incentives to employees who promote clean air quality.

Action Items: No action needs to be taken.


6.1       Current updates local/regional TDM related items

In summary, the following items were discussed:

  • Mrs. Amaral provided the update; she stated that County Connection will start selling the Summer Youth Passes starting June 10, 2012; the passes will be valid until September 30, 2012.
  • Ms. McGuire stated that County Connection route schedules may change on June 10, 2012. Ms. McGuire stated that she has been working hard to keep Route 78 running, which comes from Vallejo/Benicia to Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek, and will provide an update at the next meeting.
  • Ms. McGuire stated that ACE train is planning to add a fourth round trip train in the to evening to Bishop Ranch and that may happen in October, she stated there will be no bus connection for the new evening trip. Ms. McGuire stated that there will be 4 morning ACE trips with bus connections, and only 3 evening trips with bus connections.
  • Mrs. Amaral stated that Whole Foods is working on trying to sell tickets for County Connection and Clipper, but that is not happening yet.

7.         ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:07 p.m.  The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 16, 2012 in the Transportation Conference Room, 2401 Crow Canyon Road.
