Leaders in Training (LIT)

Leadership and professionalism are two key skills young people should strive to achieve. Learn the skills needed to work a summer recreation job for the City of San Ramon. Attending the Leaders in Training spring training is the prerequisite to helping out at Summer Camp.

Participants are required to attend 4 of 5 classes weeks, to be eligible to volunteer at Summer Camp 2024.  Week 5 (May 30), 4:30 PM-7:00 PM, will be offered as a "make up class," to anyone who missed a class during weeks 1-4.

This program gives participates the opportunity to prepare for possible future employment by including training and mentoring, training for summer camp volunteering, and guided experiences working with youth and becoming a leader.

Helping out at camp opportunities are available at Central Park, Iron Horse Middle School, Pine Valley Middle School, Crow Canyon Gardens, and Forest Farms with preschool and elementary age camps.

Leaders in Training (LITs) should be available Monday - Friday, mornings (as early as 7:30am to as late as 1:00pm) or afternoons (as early as 12:30pm to as late as 4:15pm). Splitting up a morning or afternoon shift is not possible.  Please check your summer schedule before registering, to ensure you will be free to volunteer. All schedules will be assigned during the final spring class.  Volunteers may volunteer as little as 1 week, or as much as all 9 weeks of summer.  Summer Camps will run from June 10 to August 9 (M-F).
