CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS

During a large-scale emergency or disaster, informative and time-sensitive communication with the public is vital. The San Ramon Police Department understands and values the critical role we play in communicating with the public when these types of incidents occur. Should a significant event, critical incident, or natural disaster impact the San Ramon Valley, our goal is to ensure we disseminate public safety information accurately, timely, and across multiple platforms to ensure the greatest reach to all members to the San Ramon Community.

To ensure this is possible, we will communicate initial information using all of our message platforms. During this messaging push, all of the following communication platforms could be utilized:

Following the initial informational broadcasts, regular public safety updates will be provided through the San Ramon Police Department's Twitter Feed at www.twitter.com/sanramonpolice. Information guiding all residents to this platform for continual updates will be included in all broadcasts during the initial messaging push. The San Ramon Police Department’s Twitter feed is public and you do not need to be a member, or have a Twitter account, to view the information we push out. All you need is the link and an internet connection. We have chosen this strategy because the Twitter platform allows for the use of a single platform, without the influence of algorithms, for consistent, rapid, and quick informational updates. Should the event, critical incident, or disaster impact the use of mobile phone connectivity for members of the San Ramon Community, regularly updated information will be repeatedly broadcast on the City of San Ramon's Emergency Radio Frequency at AM 1610.
