The Teen Service and Leadership program (TSL) is an award-winning program, recognized by the California Parks and Recreation Society as an Outstanding Recreation Program.
With teens eager to build their resumes, strengthen college applications and gain real-world experience, meaningful service opportunities can be difficult to find. The TSL program provides teens with practical, community-based experiences that help build confidence, leadership and essential soft skills.
The TSL program includes 8 educational sessions along with supervised volunteer experiences. Participants will learn teamwork, communication, resume/interview skills and gain more insight into their community and local government. Teens will also learn how to interact professionally with the public and City Staff as they work collectively to host an event for those with special needs.
In addition to the educational sessions, participants will have an opportunity to participate in additional supervised volunteer opportunities, such as supporting youth sports programs, events and programs at Forest Home Farms and other City Special Events. A calendar of volunteer opportunities will be provided at the first class meeting.
The Teen Service and Leadership program is an excellent opportunity for teens to develop confidence, build leadership skills, learn about their community while making a difference in it and stand out on future resumes and college applications.
